IO-Link diagnostic & test tools: Reliable analysis and certified inspections

Our IO-Link diagnostic & test tools support you in complying with standards, troubleshooting, and quality assurance – for reliable, market-ready products that cause no major issues in the field. So that you can bring a fully functional IO-Link device to market with confidence, the IO-Link Community requires proof of function for the protocol, the physical layer, and EMC compatibility for IO-Link devices and IO-Link masters. Even if certification is not the goal, it is in many cases advisable to thoroughly put developments to the test, for example to minimize risks from unfavorable architectures and functional issues at a later stage. As an accredited IO-Link Competence and Test Center, we offer you comprehensive options to thoroughly analyze, validate, and certify IO-Link devices and systems.

Our IO-Link diagnostic & test tools in detail

Protocol tester for master & device

Automated IO-Link protocol test cases with IODD-based configuration and detailed test reports in accordance with the IO-Link test specification (data link and application layers). Approved by the IO-Link Community for standards-compliant conformity testing of IO-Link devices, IO-Link masters, and IO-Link safety masters.

EMC test systems and special equipment for EMC compliance

Our test systems help you evaluate the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of your products to ensure interference-free operation in industrial environments and facilitate certification. Our EMC Test Master or our Test Device are ideal for EMC compliance testing.

For electrical testing of IO-Link devices in accordance with the IO-Link specification. Measures signal levels, bit timing, and current consumption with automatic report generation. Supports testing of IO-Link sensors and switches up to version V1.1.X, including multi-channel operation for parallel testing.

Diagnostic Tools

Our diagnostic tools provide precise analysis capabilities for IO-Link communication and device behavior in the field. They enable fast fault detection and troubleshooting directly on site—maximizing availability and minimizing downtime. Use our IO-Link Diagnosis Tool or our IO-Link Spy.

FAQ on our IO-Link diagnostic & test tools

Diagnostic tools such as the IO-Link Diagnosis Tool or the IO-Link Spy are used during development and in field operation to analyze communication behavior, process data, and device parameters in real time. Test tools such as the Device Tester or Physical Layer Tester, on the other hand, verify the formal standard compliance of an IO-Link device according to the IO-Link Test Specification – they are a prerequisite for certification.

The IO-Link Community requires three test categories for IO-Link devices: the protocol test (data link and application layer), the physical layer test (signal level, bit timing, current consumption), and the EMC test. As an accredited IO-Link Competence and Test Center, TEConcept offers all three tests – individually or as a package.

An IO-Link Test Center is a testing body recognized by the IO-Link Community that uses officially approved test systems and procedures. Accreditation ensures that test results are internationally recognized and that the certification process runs smoothly. TEConcept is an accredited IO-Link Competence and Test Center.

Our test systems are available as standalone products – however, for official IO-Link certification, they may only be used by members of the IO-Link Community. If formal certification is being pursued and you are not a member of the IO-Link Community, the tests must be carried out by an officially accredited IO-Link test center. As an accredited IO-Link Competence and Test Center, TEConcept is happy to carry out these certification tests for you.

The earlier, the better. Diagnostic tools can already be used in early development phases to identify communication issues early on. Formal conformance tests with the Device Tester or Physical Layer Tester are recommended at the latest during the validation phase, to avoid costly revisions shortly before market launch.
